Description

🧠 Mental Health – PSHE Drop Down Day: Stronger Than Our Struggles

For Secondary Students Aged 13–18

Stronger Than Our Struggles is a thoughtful, engaging curriculum experience designed to enhance your existing PSHE provision and help students better understand, manage, and support mental health — in themselves and others. Mental health is now a more open topic — discussed in classrooms, at home, and across social media. But with that openness has come a rise in anxiety, misinformation, and a need for practical, effective tools to support young people’s wellbeing. Equip your students with the emotional tools, confidence, and resilience they need to face life’s ups and downs — and support each other along the way

Alignment with New RSHE 2025 Requirements

Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing (Core Strand)

  • RSHE 2025 places stronger emphasis on teaching about common mental health issues, anxiety management, coping strategies, and support networks – This day directly equips students with practical tools for managing wellbeing, fulfilling that requirement.

  • Challenging Misinformation – New guidance highlights the risk of misinformation about mental health, especially via social media. This day  tackles this by helping students critically reflect on what they hear online and identify reliable sources of support.

  • Resilience & Coping with Life’s Challenges – Stronger Than Our Struggles” builds resilience and emotional adaptability, preparing students for real-life ups and downs

  • Reducing Stigma & Promoting Help-Seeking – A statutory expectation is that schools create a culture where mental health is openly discussed and students know where to seek help. This day normalises conversations about mental health and signposts professional/peer support pathways.

🕒 How to run a PSHE Drop Down Day

Duration:

  • 🏫 Morning Assembly: 10 minutes
  • 🧠 Core Sessions: Approx. 5 hours of activities and guided learning

Running a LᴉfeFluent day couldn’t be easier. Each session is led using our detailed presentation slides, Teacher Guidance Booklets, and step-by-step LᴉfeFluent Instruction Videos. These guide both the teacher and students through interactive, purposeful activities — all of which are recorded in the students’ personal Guidance Booklets.

It’s a ready-made experience that allows teachers to focus on delivery, not planning — and students to focus on learning in a fun, structured format.

👥 Class Sizes & Format
Our drop down days are flexible enough to run across:

  • A whole school, key stage, or single year group
  • With a recommended maximum of 30 students per classroom
  • Working in small collaborative groups of up to 5 students

We recommend starting the day with the Assembly video shown in a central space like a school hall. It’s a powerful way to build a sense of unity and clearly communicate the learning outcomes and purpose of the day ahead.
